HAT WITH OR WITHOUT EARFLAPS

Use this pattern as a base for my crochetstuck hats! Feel free to use a different hat pattern if you want it fancier, or if you already have a hat you can use! I used a size J hook.
Special Stitch: dc2tog (decrease): Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook—1 stitch decreased.
ch 3, join with sl st
Row 1: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 12 dc in loop join with sl st (12 st)
Row 2: ch 3, dc in same st *2 dc in each st around* join with sl st (24 st)
Row 3: ch 3, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st* (36 st)
Row 4: ch 3, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 2 st* (48 st)
Row 5: ch 3, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 6 st* (56 st) (If you need a bigger hat keep increasing)
Rows 6-15: 1 dc in each st around (56 st) fasten off, unless you feel like adding earflaps. In that case . . . don’t (you may need to use fewer rows if you use a large crochet hook or plan on adding earflaps)
For earflaps
Row 1-6: ch 3, *dc in next 10 st, ch3, turn repeat from * each consecutive row
Row 7: dc2tog, 1 dc in next 4 st, dc2tog, 1 dc
Row 8: 1 dc in each st across
Fasten off and repeat on the other side of the hat, then gather some strands of yarn in black and your hemospectrum color and make a pretty braid for each earflap.

    1. I used a J. If you crochet loosely you may want to use a smaller one. Thanks for your comment, I didn't realize that it wasn't included in my original post. I'll go back and edit it.
